Maida Eisenberg
Senior Operations Manager
Contact: maida_eisenberg@us.ibm.com

Maida Eisenberg has been the Senior Operations Manager for the Collaborative User Experience (CUE) Research Group since 2000. As part of her job, Maida supports the group's communications within the company as well as outside IBM. In this role, she maintains the group's Web site and publishes an internal newsletter. She is also involved with CUE's active intern program. Outside of her duties in the Research arena, Maida has been active in the Daughter's Day program and co-chaired the highly successful EXITE Camp.2002. EXITE Camp is a one-week technology day camp for middle-school-aged girls from Boston and Cambridge.

Before becoming a member of the Research group, Maida worked on the user assistance (UA) for a variety of Lotus products. She joined the company in 1990 as a Technical Editor for Lotus 1-2-3 for the Macintosh, an integrated spreadsheet and database. Following that assignment, Maida served as an editor and then UA Manager for several versions of 1-2-3. In 1997 she moved on to the SmartSuite team, where she managed the user assistance team. Over the years, she delivered on-line and print UA for audiences ranging from naive users to highly technical programmers, including Help, QuickDemos, tutorials, guided tours, user manuals, and marketing materials. During her tenure on SmartSuite, Maida was instrumental in establishing a smooth and cost-effective process for translating UA from English into other languages.

Prior to coming to Lotus, Maida worked at Wang Laboratories as a Technical Editor, and at Dynamics Research Corporation, where she created and managed a technical writing team. Before entering the technical arena, Maida taught English and Remedial Reading in Newton, Massachusetts and in the Bronx, New York. When she moved from New York to Maine, she took on the challenge of establishing and running a medical library at the Regional Hospital in Waterville, Maine. The library was recognized as a model for community libraries, and in addition to providing up-to-date resources for the professional staff , also offered a well-used multimedia library for patient education.

Maida has a BA from Hunter College in New York City and a Masters Degree in English Literature from Harvard University.
