Automatic generation of test cases

Discussed is the 'syntax machine,' a program for automatically generating syntactically correct programs (test cases) for checking compiler front ends. The notion of 'dynamic grammar' is introduced and is used in a syntax-defining notation that provides for context-sensitivity. Examples demonstrate use of the syntax machine.
